The annual International Women’s Day Leadership Conference took place at the University of Lethbridge on Wednesday.
The day featured two keynote speakers along with panel discussions with local leaders from Lethbridge.
Under the theme, “leaders who change the conversation,” the conference was geared toward fostering spaces for all voices and celebrating the excellence of women and gender-diverse individuals.
Those involved say the event was a way to inspire women and others in the community.
“Supporting this event together, from the community coming to campus and really spending a day together, is really empowering, but it’s also a really exciting opportunity for people to get to know others that maybe they haven’t had a chance to talk with before,” said Dena McMartin, University of Lethbridge vice-president, research.
“I trained at Canadian universities and I know that they produce the highest calibre of professionals, and so it’s really an honour to be asked back to speak at a university in Canada,” said Dr. Jen Gunter, gynecologist and best-selling author.
This was the second year the university hosted the conference.
