Calgary man charged after woman found dead in abandoned Crescent Heights home

After appealing for tips in a cold case murder just last week, Calgary police have made an arrest in the killing of 54-year-old Rhonda Waite.

Charges have been laid in the death of a woman whose body was found in an abandoned home in the community of Crescent Heights back in 2022.

Rhonda Waite (Joroszek), 54, was found dead in the 200 block of 14 Avenue N.E. just before 7 p.m. on Aug. 20.

Initially, Calgary police said the death was classified as suspicious, but announced earlier this month it had officially be deemed a homicide.

On Thursday, police announced 45-year-old Gregg Stanley Dodge of Calgary had been charged with second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

“Thank you to the witnesses and those who came forward with information in relation to this homicide,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn in a news release.

“This information was crucial in laying the second-degree murder charge and ultimately allowed us to provide answers, justice and closure for Rhonda’s family.”
