An investigation into the suspicious death of 54-year-old Rhonda Waite, also known as Rhonda Joroszek, is now believed to be a homicide.
“Witnesses have come forward to police to provide information in relation to the death, and based on this evidence, it is now believed to be a homicide,” Calgary police said in a news release Tuesday.
Waite’s body was found on Aug. 20, 2022, in an abandoned house slated for demolition in the 200 block of 14 Avenue N.E.
Investigators believe Waite died several days before her body was discovered in the Crescent Heights home.
“We are urging the community, and anyone with information about Rhonda’s death to come forward so we can provide answers to her family,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn with the CPS homicide unit.
“Any information about Rhonda can have a significant impact on the investigation. We have been in contact with some witnesses, but believe there are more individuals who have information in relation to this homicide.”
Police are now looking for anyone with information about Waites' death or who may have had contact with her while she was still alive.
