The Calgary Canucks are one win away from winning the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) championship after defeating the Storm 7-4 Tuesday night in a game played in Grande Prairie.

The Storm came out firing Tuesday, scoring three times in the first 13 minutes of play, getting two goals from Will Harris and one from Kailus Green but the Canucks responded with a pair of their own, from Bowden Singleton and Rhys Jamieson to trail 3-2.

Before the period ended, the Canucks got two more, from Wade Wallace and Hayden Fechner to give them a 4-3 lead after one period.

In the second, the teams matched each other with one goal apiece, from Carter Streek while Jayden Joly scored for Calgary, to give the Canucks a 5-4 lead going into the third.

The Canucks were able to blank Grande Prairie in the final frame, while adding single goals from Luc Trevors and Jack Plandowski to give them a 7-4 win.

Calgary outshot Grande Prairie 41-30.

Game 4 is Wednesday night in Grande Prairie. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Both Calgary and Grande Prairie have qualified for the Centennial Cup, which starts May 8 in Calgary.
