Century Downs lets the dogs out in Derby Day with a Cinco de Mayo twist

Chihuahua races are one of the special attractions at Century Downs' Cinco De Derby Day Saturday (Century Downs)

Century Downs Racetrack and Casino is celebrating Kentucky Derby day with a special twist of their own Saturday.

The two biggest days of the first week of May are Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo, so Century Downs is blending the two on Saturday.

The racetrack in Balzac, Alta., will feature its usual complement of standardbred harness races, but there will also be a Chihuahua race following the horse racing, free craft beer and tequila tasting, pet-friendly fun from Petland, Mexican dancing and a livestream of the Kentucky Derby at the track’s OTB lounge.

The craft beer and tequila tasting kicks off at 12:30 p.m., with races starting at 12:45 p.m.

The Kentucky Derby goes around 5 p.m. from Louisville.
