The City of Calgary has announced its new chief financial officer (CFO).
As the CFO, Les Tochor will oversee all financial functions of the organization and provide long-term strategy, policy and advisory support.
Tochor will not only serve as the CFO, but also as the general manager of the city’s corporate financial and planning services department, which he will oversee and monitor.
Tochor stepped into the role of acting CFO in October 2024, after it was announced former CFO Carla Male had departed.
Prior to being the acting CFO, Tochor served as the city treasurer and director of finance (2020 – 2023) and city treasurer and deputy chief financial officer (2023 – 2024).
“Mr. Tochor brings over 25 years of leadership and experience in the public-sector and a deep level of expertise and strong background in finance and strategic planning to the CFO role,” said chief administrative officer David Duckworth in a statement.
“I’m confident that his expertise and vision will drive our organization’s financial strategy forward and am excited to have him continue leading our organization and serving Calgarians as our new CFO.”

Tochor, meanwhile, says he’s thrilled to continue serving Calgarians in the role.
“It’s an exciting time for our city as we prepare for a future of continued growth within a dynamic political environment,” he said.
“My focus as the new CFO is to find ways we can continue to enhance processes and systems and enable the delivery of quality programs and services that people expect.”
