Following further investigation, RCMP say a collision that killed two dogs in Bindloss, Alta., was not intentional.

In a Monday news release, RCMP said it received a report of a collision in Bindloss on Railway Avenue around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said a white sedan was travelling westbound and hit and killed two white Great Pyrenees dogs.

Although police initially said the car appeared to intentionally hit the dogs and flee the scene, in an updated release on Tuesday, RCMP said the young driver and their family actually attempted to find the owner of the dogs following the collision.

“After continued interviews and investigation, this collision is not believed to have been intentional,” RCMP said on Tuesday.

Bindloss is located approximately 325 kilometres east of Calgary, near the Alberta-Saskatchewan boundary.
