Calgary firefighters responded to a blaze at a home in the 500 block of 28 Avenue N.W. on Wedesday, April 16, 2025.

The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says a house that went up in flames in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday was for sale.

Crews responded to the home, located in the 500 block of 28 Avenue N.W., at 9:45 a.m.

A news release from CFD says firefighters arrived to find smoke billowing from the bungalow and “significant flames” inside.

Though it initially appeared the flames were from the main floor, it was determined they were actually climbing up from the basement.

More firefighters were called to the home due to the intensity of the blaze.

Crews closed Fourth Street between 27 and 29 Avenue N.W. to allow crews to safely use multiple hose lines without being impeded by traffic.

No one was found inside the home and no injuries were reported.

The CFD says damage to the house is “extensive,” but they were able to stop the flames from spreading to neighbouring homes.

The fire department noted the home was vacant.

A listing on realtor.ca shows the 1948 home had been for sale for 95 days at a price of $969,900.
