A quick response from firefighters on Monday night helped prevent a northwest house fire from spreading and causing even more damage.
Around 7 p.m., fire crews were called to the 0 to 100 block of Beaconsfield Place N.W.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says the home’s residents got out safely.
Firefighters got to work quickly, despite being faced with the challenge of the fire having started at the back of the house.
“The first arriving crew saw smoke and fire at the back of this residence. They made a quick fire attack, jumped on it and they got it out right away with minimal damage,” said district chief Al Kozicki with the CFD.
The fire is believed to have originated on or near the back deck of the house.
There was minor exterior damage to an adjacent home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
