Temperatures were in the -20s across southern Alberta early Tuesday morning, with a layer of fresh snow across much of the region, including the City of Calgary.

As of 8 a.m., roads, sidewalks and parking lots were still snow-covered within the city, and according to 511 Alberta some area highways were also in snow and ice-covered.
Light and scattered flurries will continue throughout the day but accumulations in the southwest should remain relatively low.
Snow is expected again on Wednesday as that same system intensifies off of the Rocky Mountains south of the border, resulting in localized heavier accumulations northwest of that initiation or along the southern portion of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

There will be a mild improvement in temperatures by the end of the week, however both daytime highs and overnight lows will remain well below seasonal at least until the middle of next week.

The normal range of temperatures in Calgary this time of year is -1 C to -13 C.
