Grass fire near Water Treatment Plant under control in Lethbridge

An investigation is underway into what caused a grass fire west of Scenic Drive Friday morning in Lethbridge.

The fire burned during morning rush hour near the water treatment plant and south of Whoop Up Drive.

LFES crews are responding to a grass fire west of Scenic Dr near the Water Treatment Plant, south of Whoop Up Dr.
Please avoid the area and give crews space to work safely. Scenic Dr remains open.

By 9:15 a.m., crews had the fire under control.

Due to wind and dry conditions, crews remain on scene monitoring hot spots to prevent it from rekindling.

Motorists are asked to continue to avoid the area.
