The Hitmen gave up a couple of goals Friday night, but they scored a half dozen as Calgary defeated Swift Current at the Saddledome.
Jaxen Gauchier scored in the first period for the Broncos, snapping Hitmen goaltender Daniel Hauser’s shutout streak around 19 minutes short of setting a new WHL record.

However, the Hitmen bounced right back, scoring the next five to take a commanding lead.
Ben Kindel, Axel Hurtig, Oliver Tulk and Brandon Gorzynski scored in the first, and Hunter Aura added one in the second to help the Hitmen build a commanding 5-1 lead.
In the third, Swift Current cut the Hitmen lead to 5-2 on a goal from Peyton Kettles, and Hulk scored his second late to make it a 6-2 final score.

The Hitmen outshot the Broncos 48-26.
The two goals given up by Hauser were the first goals he’s surrendered in his past five starts.
While he didn’t break the WHL record, Hauser’s 245-minute shutout stretch set a new Hitmen record.
Next up for the Hitmen is their annual Every Child Matters game Sunday against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
The game, which is a partnership between the Hitmen and Siksika Health Services, will feature the Hitmen wearing special jerseys designed by Indigenous artists to honour and celebrate Indigenous culture.
Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Saddledome.
