Slick driving conditions contributed to dozens of collisions throughout Calgary during Tuesday’s morning commute.

Light precipitation that fell on Monday evening and into Tuesday morning became icy as the temperature dipped below freezing, resulting in bridge decks and overpasses becoming extremely slippery.

Calgary police took to social media just after 6 a.m. to warn drivers about icy road conditions, urging them to drive with caution.

Deerfoot Trail, Stoney Trail and Barlow Trail were some of the major roadways that saw multiple vehicle crashes.

Police say 26 non-injury crashes were reported between midnight and 8 a.m., as well as five with injuries.
