Lethbridge police have charged two people after a routine traffic stop uncovered a stash of illegal drugs and a stolen e-bike.

The traffic stop happened just after 3 a.m. on Monday.

Police say officers were in the 3500 block of Second Avenue South for an unrelated matter, when one spotted a vehicle committing “multiple traffic violations.”

The officer stopped the vehicle, but noticed its licence plate didn’t match the vehicle make and model.

“The male driver was found to have a Canada-wide driving prohibition, and the female occupant was wanted on an outstanding warrant,” police said in a Tuesday news release.

A search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing 200 doses of fentanyl, 620 doses of methamphetamine, more than 130 narcotic pills, nearly $1,000 cash and a stolen e-bike.

A 35-year-old Claresholm man and a 24-year-old Brocket woman are both facing a handful of charged.

The man is set to appear in court on April 17, while the woman is scheduled to appear on May 1.
