Lethbridge and District Agricultural Society hires new director, board

The newly reformed Lethbridge and District Agricultural Society (LDAS) has a new director.

Cody McIntosh has been hired for the role.

McIntosh was raised on a farm in the Picture Butte area and has worked remotely with Red Deer County and its Agriculture Services Board for the past 20 years.

The LDAS has also hired a new board, including Lewis Baarda as chair.

The board is made up of five at-large members, along with a representative from the city and Lethbridge County.

The board says its main focus right now is connecting more people with agriculture.

“We do have a lot of new work with our board just to determine our strategy and what we’re going to deliver, but you’re going to see more agricultural programming in the Lethbridge area,” said McIntosh.

“Just what that looks like, we’re figuring that out.”

The ag society has also announced the return of Aggie Days in March.

The educational program was last held in 2019 and is designed to help connect students to the culture of agriculture.
