Lethbridge athlete Moriah Van’t Land bound for Special Olympics World Winter Games

Figure skater Moriah Van't Land is Italy-bound as the lone Lethbridge athlete competing in the Special Olympics World Winter Games.

The Special Olympics World Winter Games kick off in a week in Turin, Italy.

Lethbridge will be represented in the more than 1,500 athletes competing.

Figure skater Moriah Van’t Land will compete for Canada.

She’s the only athlete from the Lethbridge region and the only figure skater from Alberta.

This will be her first time competing on the international stage.

But she’s won several gold medals at the provincial and national levels.

She and her team are thrilled to be heading to Italy.

“It’s great—it’s going to be amazing,” she said.

She’s scheduled to skate on March 12.
