The City of Lethbridge has a new guiding document in place to plan, design and care for park spaces.
Council adopted the parks master plan at Tuesday’s meeting.
The document will direct the planning and care of the city’s parks for the next 15 to 20 years and replaces the previous plan created in 2007.
The master plan was created with help from the public, community organizations, youth centres and Lethbridge Polytechnic.
“Every department has one and what it sort of sends is that large picture and, ‘This is the Lethbridge we want built and this is how your department helps to build that,’” said Coun. Belinda Crowson.
“Then staff can do their work within that.”
While the new master plan was approved, any capital projects or budget adjustments will still require approval from city council.
