A Lethbridge woman who won $100,000 on a scratch lottery ticket has some pretty practical plans for her windfall, saying she plans to pay off some debt.
Jovelyn Fernandez won her prize on a $20 Golden Egg ticket.
“We’re going to pay off our vehicles,” she said in a Wednesday news release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “And some will go to our home renovations.”
Fernandez purchased her winning ticket from a Petro Canada location on Mayor Magrath Drive South.
She scanned it in the store, and said she had to double check it to see if she had misread it.
“I thought, ‘Is this real?’” she said
“I had to have my husband check it and then my daughter,” she added. “We read the instructions on the ticket just to make sure.”
“It will really help take some pressure off our shoulders.”
