National Volunteer Week marked in Lethbridge

It’s National Volunteer Week—a time to honour and celebrate those who give back their time to the community.

Around 20 members of different volunteer organizations from across the city came out for the flag raising on Monday.

Data shows more than half of people in Lethbridge volunteer, donating on average more than 90 hours of their time each year.

Volunteer Lethbridge feels events like these are important to celebrate those who give back.

“Lethbridge is a hidden gem. … Most people say go to Toronto, go to Vancouver, Calgary even, Edmonton, but Lethbridge is indeed a hidden gem and part of that fabric is really the volunteerism and the community engagement that is here,” said Moya Johnson, volunteer Lethbridge vice-president.
