Man dies after being hit in Highfield industrial area

Emergency crews respond to a collision in the 1500 block of Hastings Crescent S.E. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025.

A man in his 60s died on Thursday after being hit by a semi-truck at a workplace in the Highfield industrial area.

The incident occurred in a loading bay area in the 1500 block of Hastings Crescent S.E. just after 12:30 p.m.

Police say the 69-year-old victim had walked behind the semi to prepare a spring-loaded ramp on the loading dock. He was struck by the vehicle as it reversed.

Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital in life-threatening condition where he later died.

Police say the driver of the truck, a man in his 30s, was not injured and remained on scene.

Occupational Health and Safety is investigating.
