Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Calgary area: ECCC

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for the Calgary area Sunday morning.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) posted the watch at 10:39 a.m., warning that “conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain this afternoon and evening."

Sunday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and rain, with light showers falling at 1:15 p.m. and a chance for a severe thunderstorm along with winds gusting to 40 km/h.
