Short-handed Hurricanes drop Family Day matinee to Tigers, 5-1

The Lethbridge Hurricanes were missing a few regulars Monday and were no match for the Tigers, dropping a 5-1 game in Medicine Hat.

After running up an 11-2-1-0 record over their past 14 road games, the Hurricanes played Monday without Jordan Gustafson, Miguel Marques, Logan Wormald and Leo Braillard, all of whom were sidelined with injuries.

Misha Volotovskii scored twice in the first to catapult the Tigers to a 2-0 lead and they didn’t look back after that.

Oasiz Wiesblatt scored to make it 3-0 in the second

In the third, Ryder Ritchie scored to make it 4-0 then Gavin McKenna scored to make it 5-0.

Trae Johnson spoiled the shutout bid for former Hurricane goaltender Harrison Meneghin when he scored with 5:14 remaining.

Medicine Hat outshot Lethbridge 28-21.

The Hurricanes are back in action Wednesday night when they host the Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
