Temperatures set to soar following windy end to the week

Wind gusts will calm down on Saturday making way for a long-term warm up, with temperatures well above the freezing mark. Danielle Savoni has your forecast.

Happy Friday! It will still be cold on Saturday morning, but the winds will calm down in YYC, and the sun will come out, so the 0 C in the afternoon will feel warmer than on gusty Friday.

If you really dig outdoor winter sports, then you may not like the long-range forecast, but if you are hoping for some warmth, then you will enjoy Sunday and most of next week as temperatures soar.

If you noticed some interesting precipitation in southeast Calgary last night, it wasn’t hail or ice pellets; it was graupel. It’s not hard like ice. It’s more like Styrofoam, the Dippin’ Dots treats, or tiny snowballs that you can crush between your fingers.
