City crews are responding to several water main breaks across Calgary, including one affecting dozens of homes in Bowness.
Residents told CTV News they have been without running water since Sunday.
The break was detected along a section of Bowness Road and repairs were ordered.
The city says when the fixed pipe was being put back into service, another break was discovered a short distance away.
The cause of the second break is still unknown, but the city hopes to have repairs done and the water running again sometime over the weekend.
“This is not normal; like, normally we would have it back in service already and they would be carrying on with their lives. Instead, they get a longer disruption, but we’re trying to get it fixed,” said Chris Huston, the City of Calgary’s drinking water distribution manager.
The city says they have a total of eight designated water main repair crews that are already working extended hours.
