We’re in for a lengthy warm stretch, but a little more cold to watch out for first

Published:

We will warm up significantly, end-of-week, and this is a long-term warm-up—really for the rest of February.

Yes! A huge, long-term warm-up is on the way, but you need to still be prepared for another frigid morning.

Extreme cold warnings are in place for much of southern Alberta because of the dangerously cold wind chills Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Hanna, Oyen and Coronation areas are looking at a wind chill around -48, Medicine Hat area -46, Lethbridge -40 and Calgary -36.

Here is a look the Wednesday YYC forecast:

The warm-up will start Wednesday night in Calgary.

It will be a gusty night as the chinook winds kick in while we are sleeping.

It should be enough to carry us above the freezing mark by Thursday afternoon.

Daytime highs should remain well above 0 C for the rest of the month.
