Young Calgarian gets to meet his idol, Golden State Warrior Steph Curry

Many of us never meet our heroes but one 10-year-old Calgarian got to meet NBA superstar Steph Curry on Monday.

On the second try to meet his hero Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors -- the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history -- Calgary’s Amarion Henry hit nothing but net.

Ten-year-old Amarion and dad Arnold flew to Toronto for the January 13th NBA game hosted by the Raptors who played Golden State where Amarion got to meet and shake hands with the Warrior superstar who is also known to be one of the NBA’s super-nicest guys.

“Curry was doing his usual pre-game routine and we were able to catch one of his famous shots,” said Arnold on a Facebook posting.

“It was so amazing to see the smile on my son’s face and how he was soaking up the moment, just watching Curry go through his pre-game routine.”

It was also a bit of a holiday miracle do-over for Amarion and Arnold after their first attempt to meet Curry went super wrong.

Amarion’s Christmas gift was a trip to San Francisco to watch Curry play the visiting Memphis Grizzlies the first week in January.

The family embarked on an epic 23-hour road trip and made it in time for the game -- but five hours before tipoff, to their utter dismay, they learned Curry was injured and wouldn’t be taking to the court for the match.

When the NBA superstar learned of the family’s misadventures by the bay, he reached out, offering to pay for them to see the Warriors play in Toronto on January 13th.

“That video caught Curry’s attention and he personally reached out to me wanting to make it up for my son,” said Arnold via Facebook.

“And boy, he did,” Arnold added. “Curry sent us on an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto so my son could meet him and watch his game live!

“We arrive at the Scotiabank Arena about an hour before tipoff,” he said,“ and we were given an all-access pass.”

The 10-year-old was in awe watching Curry warm up and then got to meet him, an experience he’ll never forget.

Amarion hand wrote a thank-you letter to Curry after the experience.

“Dear Steph Curry, I hope this letter finds you well,” Amarion wrote. “I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the kind offer of sponsoring my trip to Toronto to watch you play live.

“Your generosity has made a lasting impact and I am truly humbled by your support.

“Watching you on the court will be an experience I will never forget.”

“The opportunity to witness your talent, leadership and dedication up close will be a dream come true. It is not every day that one gets to see a legend in action, and I am so thankful for the charge you’ve given me.

“Your kindness goes far beyond the game of basketball,” Amarion added. “It is an inspiring reminder of the power of giving back and the importance of uplifting others.”

“Your influence extends far beyond the basketball court and this kindness will be remembered for years to come,” he said. “Once again, thank you for your generosity and for creating an unforgettable experience for me. I wish you continued success and happiness both on and off the court. Yours truly, Amarion Henry.”
