After winning 10 times in January, the Hurricanes went as cold as the streets outside VisitLethbridge.com Arena Saturday night, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Edmonton Oil Kings.

After Oil King goaltender Ethan Simcoe stopped a couple point-blank opportunities by Shane Smith early, Edmonton jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Cole Miller.

Simcoe continued to blank the Hurricanes in the second, while Marshall Finnie fired one in off a Lethbridge player to double the lead to 2-0 with a little less than five minutes to play in the second.

Lethbridge continued to apply pressure in the third, outshooting Edmonton 9-5, but Simcoe stopped them all to earn the shoutout.

Lethbridge outshot the Oil Kings 35-17 on the night.

The defeat was the second in a row for the Hurricanes.

They’re in action Sunday afternoon at the Saddledome, taking on the Hitmen. Friday, they host the Prince Albert Raiders.
