The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce hosted Mayor Blaine Hyggen on Thursday for his annual state of the city address.

More than 100 business and community leaders packed into a ballroom at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge to hear the update from the mayor.

Hyggen says the address is a great way to meet with many different community members.

“We’ve got so much good going on in our community, and I was able to share a lot of that today,” he said.

During his address, Hyggen touched on several issues concerning community members, but also highlighted an uptick in doctor recruitment and a drop in crime severity.

“Celebrate those wins,” he said. “This is what we’re here to do today.”

Municipal elections will be held across Alberta on Oct. 20.

Hyggen said he’s leaning toward running for mayor again.
