The city of festivals is adding another to the summer agenda: a two-day “hard-hitting” rock festival called Rockin' Thunder in July.

Legends Def Leppard, Weezer, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are among the performers confirmed for the inaugural event on July 11 and 12 at the Exhibition Lands race track.

“We’ve always dreamed of bringing a rock lineup of this calibre to the prairies, and with the incredible energy and love for music that defines Canada’s festival city, it felt like the perfect time,” said festival CEO Troy Vollhoffer in a news announcement Monday morning.

Brett Michaels, Stone Temple Pilots, Queensrÿche, Toque, the Trews, and Default will also perform.

Tickets, starting at $150 for one day and $275 for weekend passes, also went on sale Monday.
