An Edmonton river valley campground is hoping to attract campers wanting a little extra luxury and comfort with three glamping domes.
Rainbow Valley Campground tested the “comfort camping domes” last year and reopened them for booking this summer.
“You can sit outside and you’re in the river valley,” said Tim Dea with Rainbow Valley Campground. “Which is like being anywhere but in a city.”
The Rainbow and Gem domes can fit two people with its queen-sized beds. While the Snow Dome is geared towards families and can sleep two adults and two kids with its double and twin bunk beds.
Dea says the domes have added luxuries like linens, extra blankets, heated floors, climate control, an outdoor gas fire bowl and more.
“They’re a bit higher price point, but you’re getting a lot more and you get the comfort and you still have all the wonderful attractions of just being in the river valley.”

The domes start at $300 per night, but there are some discounts for those who book early and stay before the end of June. Some free nights are also being offered to festival ticket holders.
Dea says the campgound hopes it will be a busy year with more people possibly limiting travel or staying closer to home because of the current political climate in America.
“This is an opportunity to sort of get out, get away without going away really,” Dea said. “And that’s kind of our theme this year.”
There are 66 campsites and three domes available. Campers and glampers can book online.
