$450K in drugs seized from Edmonton area, fentanyl processing lab dismantled

Three people from Edmonton have been charged in connection with the seizure of nearly half a million dollars in drugs.

In November, the Edmonton Police Service began an investigation into a group believed to be trafficking drugs from the lower mainland area of B.C. to the Edmonton area.

On Jan. 28 a search warrant was executed at two hotel rooms in Edmonton, a vehicle and a home at 117 Avenue and 87 Street where a fentanyl processing operation was located.

The following items were seized:

• More than 18 kg of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $180,000.

• Over 3.5 kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of $229,000.

• Over 2 kg of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $24,000.

• 25 L of GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) with an estimated street value of over $12,000.

• Nearly 60 grams of Alprazolam powder with an estimated street value of over $8,500.

• One gun.

The fentanyl processing operation has since been dismantled.

A 43-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman from Edmonton were arrested and charged with a total of 27 charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance and authorized possession of a firearm.
