Irish author George Moore said a person will travel the world looking for what they need, but only find it when they return home, and with homes like these, one can understand why.

In October, CTV News Edmonton circled back to rural Sturgeon County to see more of the expensive homes there for sale.

Two of those listings are still up.

Now, as the cold seeps in and winter approaches, we return home again to Edmonton for another look at the expensive homes for sale in the city.

In October, Edmonton saw 1,273 new residential listings and 813 sales for detached homes, according to the Realtors Association of Edmonton (RAE). The average price during the month was $543,731, down from $549,307 in October 2024.

In the greater Edmonton area, there were 3,306 new listings, down 4.7 per cent from September, 2,061 sales, down 5.7 per cent, with an average price of $454,777, up 0.3 per cent.

“October’s numbers suggest a natural seasonal slowdown. While month-over-month activity has slowed, sales and prices remain notably higher than this time last year, signalling a market that continues to show healthy demand and stability,” said RAE board chair Darlene Reid in the monthly statistics report.

“After a period of tighter supply, the increase in available listings compared to last year is creating more balanced conditions for everyone in the market — more choice for buyers and steady opportunity for sellers.”

Now, here are some of the most expensive homes for sale in Edmonton, according to realtor.ca.

5 - $2.1M home in Glenora

Starting in west-central Edmonton, the first listing is a two-storey, 3,086-square-foot home in Glenora.

The main floor has an open-concept living room, dining room, kitchen combo, as well as a foyer, office, butler pantry and mudroom.

The home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

In the basement is also a rec room, bar and gym.

The backyard has a small, covered deck as well as a heated, triple-car detached garage.

Built in 2023, the home is located at 14018 104 Ave. NW and the listing has been up for 48 days.

4 - $2.8M home in Windermere

Over on the southwest side of the city is a two-storey, 4,343-square-foot home.

The home has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, a large kitchen and secondary spice kitchen, plus a finished walkout basement.

Said basement also has a theatre, bar, gym, rec room and office.

The backyard is small, mostly taken up by the stone patio with a fire pit, but it does border a park and green space.

The home, built in 2023, is located at 4809 Woolsey Ln. NW and the listing has been up for 28 days.

3 - $3.3M home in Windermere

Staying in Windermere, we’re moving over to this 2.5 storey, 4,165-square-foot home in Windermere.

The home’s exterior and interior provide an appealing contrast design aesthetic, as shown in the predominantly white, large chef’s kitchen to the black formal dining room.

The basement has a roughed-in golf simulator, arched bar and hidden wine room.

There are also five bedrooms, with the primary suite having dual baths, and five bathrooms.

Staying in the southwest, we find this two-storey, 5,435-square-foot home in Keswick.

The two-acre property is near the North Saskatchewan River and the backyard has a covered walkout patio as well as main and second floor balconies.

The home has a somewhat oval shape, due in part to the sun room that curves along the back of the main floor.

Lastly, moving to the largest property we have this two-storey, 2,881-square-foot home in Edmonton South Central.
