Maya Angelou once said, “You can never go home again,” but if these houses were home, you’d probably find a way back.

In July, CTV News Edmonton looked at some of the most expensive, and interesting homes in Strathcona County.

Only one of the listings from that article is still up.

Last month, we looked at homes with “wow” factors, something that really stood out above the competition. In August, most of the “wow” factors ended up turning into “water” factors, this time focusing on Parkland County.

Facts first, the county saw 66 residential units sold in July, with 65 new listings cropping up, according to the Realtors Association of Edmonton (RAE).

The average price for a residential unit in Parkland County was $694,486 for July.

This is compared to 2,860 units sold, 4,387 new listings and an average price of $463,078 in the greater Edmonton area.

“Another month of strong listing activity has bolstered Edmonton’s inventory levels, to the point where motivated sellers might be willing to lower their price to close the deal, and buyers’ options remain plentiful,” said RAE board chair Darlene Reid in the monthly statistics report.

“I won’t speculate on whether the busy season is over just yet, as this month’s sellers often become next month’s buyers, and we’ll be watching to see if sales tick up again during the back-to-school months.”

Now, here are some of the most expensive homes for sale in rural Parkland County, according to realtor.ca.

5 - $1.1M bungalow in Lake Ridge Estates

Starting just west of city limits close to the shores of Big Lake is this 2,330-square-foot home in Lake Ridge Estates.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom house is littered with windows to show off the surrounding nature, as the property backs onto Lois Hole Centennial Park.

The backyard is landscaped, with a number of trees and a koi pond.

Back inside, the walkout basement has a rec room, theatre room and wet bar.

Built in 2008, it also has a triple heated garage, a new furnace and newer AC.

The home is located at 61 53217 Rge Rd. 263 and the listing has been up for 53 days.

4 - $1.4M bungalow in Sprucehill Park

To the south in Sprucehill Park is this 2,954-square-foot bungalow.

The main floor is open concept, with a large chef’s kitchen and two of the house’s five bedrooms.

Downstairs is a theatre room, gym, rec room and kitchenette. Both levels have access to the heated four-car garage.

There isn’t a water feature in this home like there is in the others, but there is a small playground, complete with swings, in the backyard to make up for it.

The home is located at 37A 26321 Hgy. 627 and the listing has been up for 136 days.

3 - $1.8M home in Rosewood Beach

Headed west to the shores of Wabamun Lake, we find this 2,411-square-foot home in the Rosewood Beach area.

Built in 2024, the great room has a standalone fireplace between the living and dining areas. The room overlooks the backyard, which backs onto Wabamun Lake.

Lake views are also available from the sun room, which also has a fireplace.

The finished basement has a rec room and one of the house’s five bedrooms.

The house is located at 48 52518 Rge Rd. 52 and the listing has been up for 150 days.

2 - $2.4M bungalow in Happy Acres

Second place is, appropriately, the second-largest property on the list, with this 3,925-square-foot home on 21 acres in Happy Acres.

Inside, the modern farmhouse has four bedrooms and five bathrooms, the basement also has a rec room and a bar.

Outside from the covered deck, you can see the real draw of the property, expansive garden and farm land.

The property has a greenhouse, barn and storefront on it and is described as “nearly turn key.”

Above the triple-car garage is a separate legal suite.

The property is located at 52225 and 52217 Rge Rd. 273 and the listing has been up for 337 days.

1 - $3.5M bungalow in Parkland County

The final home on the list is this 2,441-square-foot bungalow just north of Northridge Meadows.

The interior is a modern design, with a large kitchen, office and main bedroom on the first floor - the ensuite also leads to an enclosed hot tub room, with access to outside.

The basement has another two bedrooms, with a rec room and a bar as well.

Outside is where this property shines, the 160-acre lot has its own private lake. Yes, you can own a lake.

The home, originally built in 1994, is located at 53417 Rge Rd. 15 and the listing has been up for 107 days.
