The last weekend of April is shaping up to be a warm one in Edmonton with a high of 19 C on Saturday.

With festivals, performances and hockey playoffs in the air, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Markets and festivals

St. Albert Lifestyle Expo & Sale

Servus Place in St. Albert is hosting the Lifestyle Expo & Sale market, bringing together more than 300 vendors and fun activities for the whole family under one roof.

The expo offers plenty of entertainment for kids including a petting zoo, a fun zone and a Stamp Around Scavenger Hunt. The St. Albert Farmers’ Market will also be setting up shop in Hall #3 throughout the event.

ChocoFest 2025

The ultimate celebration of all things chocolate has come to Sherwood Park this weekend.

Guests can sample all the best chocolate, decadent desserts and unique confections from local and international vendors while enjoying family-friendly activities.

Chocolate lovers will be treated to live performances, a chocolate chip cookie bake-off, a hot chocolate bar, prizes and live demonstrations from chocolatiers and pastry chefs.

Wild Rose Shows Carnivals

Wild Rose Shows has two carnivals in the Edmonton area this weekend, with one in Spruce Grove and the other at the Riverview Crossing mall.

Carnival goers can treat themselves to classic festival games, food and thrilling rides including The Zipper, a super slide, a carousel and a merry-go-around.

Admission: Free, rides are ticketed, $50 all-day wristband

Jammy Con K-Pop Festival

A celebration of K-Pop culture is heading to West Edmonton Mall’s Ice Palace on Saturday.

The event will feature vendors, exclusive merchandise, dance crews, games, fan activities and live musical performances.

While there won’t be food available during the event, guests are welcome to dine at any of the mall’s restaurants or food courts.

Celebrate Ukrainian Voice: A Legacy Mosaic with RAM

The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is hosting the arrival of the art piece Ukrainian Voice: A Legacy Mosaic, a tribute to Ukrainian people in Alberta and Canada.

The celebration will begin with remarks from artist and project lead Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn, followed by a live performance by Edmonton’s Viter Ukrainian Dancers and Folk Choir.

The art piece will be on exhibit at the RAM until mid-June. Tickets are available at the RAM website.

Admission: Free with admission ($10 and up), children six and under are free

Surprise Scary Movie Walk-In Theatre

The Grindstone Theatre is hosting a movie “walk-in” featuring a surprise horror movie screening.

The 18+ screening will have popcorn, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks for patrons to enjoy along with a chance to win door prizes after the movie ends.

The mystery movie playing Friday night was teased by the following clues:

  • rated PG-13;
  • directed by Sam Raimi;
  • no guts and all glory; and
  • as many jump scares as you can handle.

The Alphabet of Awesome Science

Professors Lexi Con and Noel Edge (get it?) perform a family-friendly, educational show that’s equal parts messy, explosive, fascinating and gross.

The duo has curated 26 of their favourite words, one for each letter of the alphabet, to inspire 26 different science demonstrations that will leave kids in awe in this 60-minute educational journey.

Jumpology Zone at Telus World of Science Edmonton

Inflatable structures have taken over the featured exhibition hall at Telus World of Science Edmonton until May 19.

The space will be packed with bouncy castles, slides, obstacle courses and games, the goal being to educate people about kinetic energy.

“There’s so many things around us that we don’t realize are science, and that’s the beauty of it, ” said spokesperson Kyla Amrhein “We do have our we have our TWOSE scientists on site to help talk about kinetic energy and tie it in a little bit. That being said, it is all about having fun. This was just a great extra opportunity for us to to infuse some fun into the space for the next few weeks.”

Game 3 is upon us and the Edmonton Oilers are hosting the Los Angeles Kings for the first time in the series.

The Oilers are looking to recover from a 2-0 deficit against the Kings after losing 6-5 in Game 1 and 6-2 in Game 2.

Calvin Pickard will be starting in net for Friday’s game.

Win or lose, the Oilers will face the Kings on home ice in Game 4 Sunday night.
