Crews fight two fires on east-central Alberta First Nation

Two fires on a First Nation in east-central Alberta have led police to ask people to avoid the areas they’re in on Saturday.

RCMP officers are helping firefighters from Frog Lake and Elk Point in battling the blazes on Frog Lake First Nation.

One fire is located on Highway 897 at Township Road 562 while the other is at Horse Dance Road and Hiy Hiy Road, RCMP said in a media release on Saturday.

Frog Lake First Nation is 205 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

Emergency personnel ask residents avoid the areas, adding there is the potential for evacuation.
