Drivers are being warned that incoming weather could have “significant” traffic impacts. Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a special weather alert on Tuesday for the Edmonton area and surrounding central Albertan communities. The alert says the first significant snowfall of the season is expected starting Tuesday night and lasting until Thursday morning, with up to 15 centimetres of snow possible in areas. Drivers are being told to plan extra time for travel, and to be ready for “quickly changing and deteriorating road conditions.” Mainroad Alberta Contracting, which maintains 4,600 kilometres of provincial highways, said crews will be responding as required and it asked that drivers give crews space to work.
