About 5-10 mm of rain hit Edmonton Monday night, although it looks like 6 mm will be the official total reported for the Environment and Climate Change Canada Blatchford weather station. That brings us to 28 mm for August. The monthly average is 67 mm and given the way the next seven to 10 days are shaping up, we could get to that number before mid-month. The most likely timeframes for showers/thunderstorms in the next few days are: Almost every day next week has at least a slight chance of precipitation, with the possibility for some steadier/heavier rain mid-week. It should be dry through the daytime hours today in the Edmonton area and temperatures will get to 23 or 24 C (right around average). Thursday and Friday should be dry, but not overly sunny and we’ll see the daytime high dip closer to 20 C on Thursday before rebounding to 23 C Friday. Elsewhere, rain and thunderstorms will develop across northern Alberta today with the possibility for some heavier and steadier rain in northeast Alberta around Fort McMurray and areas north.
