A band of flurries is marching toward the Edmonton region from the north this morning.
It doesn’t look like it’ll be anything TOO significant, but some blowing snow is possible in the area mid-morning.
That wet snow is being blown in on the back side of a low pressure system in NE Alberta that has been producing snow in NE Alberta all night and will continue to give that part of the province some snow through the day.
For most areas, no significant accumulation is expected...but a few spots will likely pick up 2 to 5 cm.
Further south, a snowfall warning remains in effect for the Waterton Parks area - 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected by the end of today.
Wind will be a factor across central and northern Alberta again today. Gusts will be in the 50-60 km/h range.
Thursday should be calmer in NW Alberta, but areas around Edmonton/Red Deer and east-central Alberta will get gusts in the 30-40 km/h range Thursday.
In Edmonton, we’ll see the wind ease a bit overnight tonight and then pick up through the mid to late morning hours Thursday.
Cooler air is also settling in for a couple days. Daytime highs have been above 12 C for five of the past seven days and eight of the past eleven days in Edmonton.
But, we’ll top out around 9 or 10 C today and Thursday.
If we don’t hit 10, it’ll be the city’s first single-digit high since April 4 (almost two weeks ago).
That said - the average high is only 11 C...SO...we’re still not far from the seasonal averages for mid-April.
Warmer air pushes back in on Friday as temperatures jump back into the mid-to-upper teens for Friday/Saturday.
We’ll slip to highs near 12 for Sunday/Monday.
