After a couple days with some scattered showers, we’ll be under blue skies today and Friday.
Temperatures climb to the 16/17 C range this afternoon and wind will be light throughout the day.
Gusts start to kick in late tonight and although Friday will be a few degrees warmer than today, it may not FEEL as nice as today.
We’re looking at sunshine and a high around 20 C Friday afternoon, but wind will be 20-30 km/h with gusts in the 40-50 km/h range through most of the day.
The strongest gusts should be midday Friday and then gradually ease through Friday evening.
Half-n-half weekend coming...IF the latest modelling pans out.
Warm and partly cloudy (with light wind) Saturday; temperatures around 6 C for a morning low and then 20-22 C range for an afternoon high.
Mostly cloudy, a chance of showers and cooler Sunday, although there’s some uncertainty with the precipitation and that’ll play a key role in how cool it’ll be.
It WAS looking like the steadier rain would fall across northern Alberta, but that precipitation zone has shifted further south in the latest models. So, it now appears that we’ll have some rain/west snow in the foothills and mountains near Jasper and some steadier rain around the Highway 16 corridor right across the province.
If that IS what happens, we could see showers/rain for much of the day Sunday and a high near 10 C.
BUT...there’s also a chance that this precipitation zone develops further north or south, which would leave us with a scattered shower and temperatures closer to 15 C.
Bottom line: We’ll have to wait another day or two to see how this develops. For right now, there’s not a lot of confidence in that Sunday outlook.
Long range: Highs in the mid teens early next week with a return to the 20s for the end of next week.
