After three straight days with highs below 13 C in Edmonton, we’ll return to the teens this afternoon, kicking off a lengthy string of days in the teens or low 20s.
There’s a chance of a few spotty showers in the area late this afternoon/early evening, but most of the city will stay dry.
It’s been a dry month so far.
We’ve had just 4 mm of precipitation measured at Edmonton International Airport (the Blatchford weather station is unreliable for precipitation stats).
That’s WAY below the long-term average of 30 mm for the month of April. That said, it continues a long string of drier-than-average Aprils. This would be the fifth-consecutive April with below-average precipitation.
After today’s slight chance, there’s a chance of some scattered showers late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Again, that doesn’t look like it has the potential to produce a significant amount of moisture.
Elsewhere, Sunday could be a wet one for parts of northeastern Alberta and through western Alberta. Areas around and north of Fort McMurray have a chance of some snow Sunday.
I’ll have more on that later in the week as the system develops.
Temperature-wise... we’re at the front end of a warming trend.
Edmonton gets to the 14 C range today and then up around 17 C Thursday under sunny skies.
Friday/Saturday hit highs around 20 C.
We’ll be back to the mid-teens Sunday/Monday.
