Fire advisory issued in Sturgeon County

Sturgeon County has issued a fire advisory, warning residents to be careful doing things like welding and to take a fire extinguisher when riding an ATV.

A fire advisory is now in effect for Sturgeon County.

The county issued the advisory at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The following activities are allowed with caution under the advisory:

• yard and garden debris fires, burn barrels and incinerators (fire permit required);
• recreational backyard fire pits;
• propane and natural gas-powered appliances; and
• charcoal barbeques

Residents are also asked to use caution when using ATVs, welding, grinding, or doing any other activity that could cause an unintended ignition.

ATV riders are also reminded that they must carry a fire extinguisher with them on every ride, with no exceptions.
