Some light rain, wet flurries and graupel fell overnight across the Calgary area. Light and scattered precipitation is possible around central and southern Alberta on Tuesday, but the bigger story will be that the day will feel very similar to Monday, with below seasonal temperatures and moderate north wind. The daytime high in Calgary on Tuesday is expected to peak around 12 C, with a low of -1 C. The normal daytime high this time of year is 15 C. Similar to Monday, Calgary is expecting to see a sustained north wind of 20 to 40 km/h starting in the late morning and continuing into Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, a ridge of high pressure originating in the Pacific basin will edge over the Rockies and start to warm things up east of the foothills and across Alberta’s southern border. Initially, there will still be some lingering instability as the cooler air over the Prairies interacts with that incoming high. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the eastern B.C. interior and central and southern Alberta Wednesday and into early Thursday, but for Calgary, Wednesday will kick off a period of seven to 10 days with above seasonal daytime highs. Temperatures will peak at 23 C on Wednesday before ranging from 16 C to 21 C from Thursday to Thursday, with lows of 5 C to 9 C.
