Ice District hosting Cinco de Mayo event with Mexican food and free salsa lessons

The Ice District will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Monday, pending the Edmonton Oilers playoff schedule.

A lunchtime celebration will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and an evening program from 4 to 7 p.m.

OEG Sports & Entertainment says the events will feature Latin music, authentic Mexican food, Latin-inspired cocktails, free salsa lessons, and the chance to win your way into an Oilers playoff game.

El Mero Mero Taqueria, Street Taco YEG and Casa12 Doce food trucks will be on scene to provide the food, music will be provided by Mariachi Borealis and DJ Teqnic, and salsa lessons will be held by Etown Salsa.

Admission to the event is free and it is open to all ages.

The Edmonton Oilers beat the L.A. Kings to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday, but the schedule for the series has not been released.
