The Art Gallery of St. Albert is preparing for the launch of a new interactive exhibition that reveals a hidden story. A Mirror with No Reflection was developed by Nicholas Hertz, a St. Albert-born artist. • The information you need to know, sent directly to you: Download the CTV News App Emily Baker, the art gallery’s curator, said visitor’s reflections will pop up on screens and paper surfaces throughout the space as they wander through the exhibition. Hertz’s intent is to create a sense of questioning reality while patrons take in references to places they know and experiences that seem familiar. According to the Art Gallery of St. Albert, visitors will follow a path to experience the exhibit as it gathers “their life and experience.” “(The exhibition) is a way for Nicholas to reflect on growing up queer in St. Albert, and think of community, connection and acts of care,” Baker said in a Tuesday release. “Through it, Nicholas examines the relationship between a place and body – which isn’t always clear when it comes to memories. Here, place often exists as an active character, while body becomes the location of an experience or memory.” A virtual tour will be held Aug. 1 at noon and an in-person tour is scheduled Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition begins in the main hall of the Art Gallery of St. Albert Thursday and runs until Aug. 30.
