Temperatures started to climb overnight and we’ll hold steady near 0 C through the day in Edmonton.
As of 7 a.m., temperatures around the province were about 15 to 30 degrees warmer they they were Monday morning.
Edmonton’s 7 a.m. temperature was 21 degrees warmer than Monday morning.
Red Deer had a jump of 23 degrees.
Grande Prairie was 16 degrees warmer, Fort McMurray was up 29 degrees and Cold Lake was 36 degrees warmer!
The milder temperatures will stick around all week, but the wind will be a factor for most of the week, as well.
Today, we’re looking at 20-30 km/h wind with gusts in the 50-70 km/h range starting midday and continuing through the afternoon and evening.
AND...as much as that’ll take some shine off the milder temperatures, it’s also going to create some significantly reduced visibility with blowing snow.
Depending on how things develop, we may see some blowing snow warnings issued for parts of the province later today.
Areas north of Edmonton will get snow and blowing snow this morning and midday.
Areas south of Edmonton will see those conditions develop through the evening hours.
For Edmonton and area, it’s a late-afternoon and evening timeframe for blowing snow.
So, the drive home today will very likely be impacted.
Wind dies down Wednesday afternoon and then returns for Thursday and Friday. Looks like we’ll have wind around 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h those days.
But, after today...it’s a snow-free forecast for the rest of the week.
