Canada’s national under-18 women’s hockey championship is slated to begin Sunday in Lloydminster, Alta.
The 2025 Esso Cup will see hundreds of athletes, coaches, families, staff and fans attend the annual week-long tournament in the city that straddles the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Six teams will contend for the Esso Cup this year, including two Alberta teams: the host Lloydminster Steelers and the Edmonton Junior Oilers.
Lloydminster’s Centennial Civic Centre will host the tourney Sunday through Saturday, April 26.
This year’s Esso Cup will be the fifth hosted in Alberta since the tournament started in 2009. The previous Alberta host cities were Calgary (2009), St. Albert (2011), Red Deer (2015) and Okotoks (2022).
