Edmontonians will be singing Sweet Home Alabama in September with rock royalty Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are visiting 10 stops in Canada this year.
The band has more than 60 studio albums, billions of streams and tens of millions of records sold, according to the concert announcement from Oilers Entertainment Group.
Lynyrd Skynyrd also has a place on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest artists of all time.
The group formed as My Backyard in 1964 before settling on the name Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1969.
The band disbanded in 1977 after several members, including founding member Ronnie Van Zant, died in a plane crash.
In 1987, Van Zant’s brother, Johnny Van Zant, former band members and some new talent held a tribute tour that was so successful, they reformed the band.
The current lineup features Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Damon Johnson, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Carol Chase and Stacy Michelle.
Calgary is the first Canadian stop on the tour on Sept. 10 at the Saddledome. The band then heads north for a show in Edmonton on Sept. 11.
Tickets for the Edmonton show go on presale on Tuesday and general sale on Friday.
The tour kicks off in February in Okeechobee, Florida.
