Manslaughter charge laid in death of man in central Alberta in 2024

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with a death in central Alberta last year.

The body of Jayden Carter, 21, was found on the O’Chiese First Nation on the afternoon of April 30.

On Feb. 28, a 23-year-old O’Chiese First Nation man was arrested at the Red Deer Remand Centre and charged with manslaughter, failure to comply with a weapon prohibition order and unauthorised possession of a weapon.

He remains in custody, and a court date has been set for March 19 in Rocky Mountain House.

O’Chiese First Nation is about 225 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
