The Edmonton Public Library is welcoming a new musician in residence who will offer free mentorship to local artists. Robin Cisek is a Métis alt-pop artist from Edmonton and is known for blending powerful vocals with alternative melodies and edgy electronic music. She has been a two-time CBC Searchlight Top 100 finalist and received “Best Emerging Artist” at the 2022 Indigenous Superstars awards. Working from the Stanley A. Milner Library, Cisek will offer mentorship, one-on-one sessions with musicians, and workshops designed to support local artists develop their skills. She will also provide advice on navigating the business side of the music industry and building a brand to market artists’ work. Cisek is succeeded by EPL’s third musician in residence Olivia Street, lead singer-songwriter for indie rock band King of Foxes. The musician in residence is a legacy program from the 2023 Edmonton Junos Host Committee.
