Not much change to the overall weather pattern as we’re set for another cloudy day with some more showers and possibly thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The rain that moved through the Edmonton area overnight has mostly moved off to the south and west this morning. So, we should be mostly rain-free through the morning and midday. Temperatures managed to jump to 22 C on Wednesday with a bit of sun ahead of yesterday’s late-day rain. But, I think we’ll stay a few degrees below 20 C today. There should be a bit of a break in the clouds through the first half of Thursday. We may see some showers in the early-morning hours, but I think it’ll be more like a mix of sun and cloud for the late morning and early afternoon. Then, another chance of showers and thunderstorms later Thursday. Temperatures will top out close to 20 C depending on how much sun we get. Friday’s shaping up the be sunniest day we’ve had in a while. But, even Friday has a good chance of some late-afternoon or evening showers/thunderstorms. I think we’ll sneak into the low 20s Friday afternoon, provided the showers hold off until after 6 p.m. An area of low pressure will move across central Alberta on Saturday, bringing heavier and steadier rain to much of central and north-central Alberta. The past few days and these next few days have been punctuated by occasional showers and pockets of heavier, but short-lived rain. Saturday’s looking like it’ll be an all-day steady soaking with an afternoon high in the mid teens. Sunday’s the Summer Solstice and although the first week of the new season looks warmer and drier, the first day probably won’t be. Mostly cloudy, a chance of some showers and a high in the upper teens looks likely. Beyond Sunday, we should get a lengthy string of days in the low to mid 20s (maybe even a day or two in the upper 20s) through next week as an upper ridge settles in.
